Negative Things People Say about Themselves - You Say, God Says
Dealing with Negative Thoughts
We all have had negative thoughts in our minds about ourselves. Thinking negative thoughts can eventually make a person slip into depression. This is why it is not a good idea to think about hurtful and discouraging things, in a consistent pattern. The hurtful things people think about are mainly things that happened in their past. It's a good idea to let it go, because it can eat at you and make you bitter and depressed.
Some people often think of things that didn't go in their favor in certain situation, this is lingering on negative thoughts. Going on job interviews and not getting hired is one example; but you have to stay encouraged. Keeping a positive energy around you and in your mind will help bring you favor from our heavenly God.
Encourage yourself when you begin feeling sad about things like your weight, finances, relationships, your children, your hurtful past, etc. One way to help drown out a painful past is to write down the good times you've had in the past. Each day begin to meditate on happy thoughts; watching comedies on TV can help.
Avoid indulging thoughts about a broken heart, and avoid listening to songs about "broken hearts." This will keep you from feeling vulnerable, bitter, stressed, and depressed.
