African American Natural Hair Care Tips - Braid out Styles
By Ann810
African American's Natural Hair is Beautiful
Black people buy hair products because we need them. It would be better if we would buy the hair products that are owned by Black owned manufacturers. And we must only buy the hair products that do not contain petroleum.
There are African American hair care products out there that keep moisture in our hair. There are products that are good for Black people's hair that we need to seek diligently. We know the shampoos that make our hair feel softer, and we know the ones that make our hair feel stripped of all its moisture.
African American's hair is unique and different; we should take care of it differently as well. It's not about going by the media's influence, of telling us what to use in our hair. It's time to be true to our authentic nature which is our natural hair.
There are many styles you can wear with natural hair:
- Tree braids
- Kinky twists
- Bantu knots
- Braids
- Braid outs
- Hot combed (straightened)
- and more. . . .
Benefits of Wearing Natural Hair
- Self-love and appreciation
-
Rock'n your natural hair keeps moisture longer and chemical perms don't.
- Less split-ins with natural hair, more split ends with permed hair.
- No more dry and itchy scalp with your natural hair. Perms keep your scalp and hair; dehydrated, dry, brittle, itchy, and irritated.
- Wearing your natural hair doesn't cause scabs or alopecia, but perms cause: scabs, soars, burns, and alopecia.
Going natural is a huge step to take, and we can take it together. Some African Americans may not want to stop perming their hair. But I'm sure they will change their minds after knowing the benefits of wearing their natural hair; makes hair thicker, longer, and healthier.
With going natural our hair doesn't have to risk breakage, scalp burn, or alopecia. Take care of your hair and it will take care of you.
Hair Products to Use for Braid out Styles

Avoiding combing your braid out styles, if you want your hair to appear wavy. But you can style your braid outs with your hands, by separating the waves. Also avoid putting much a lot of products on the hair it will weight it down. Only use the size of a quarter amount of hair products for your braid outs. All the products above can be used separately for each braid out style not to be used all at one time.
Leave-in Conditioner for Natural Hair
The same ingredients that are in chemical perms are in "Liquid Drano". That's a very strong chemical to have on someone's hair and scalp.
A great hair spray to use for leave-in conditioning is; Proclaim Tea Tree spray conditioner. It's been said, "what works for you, keep on using it." This leave-in conditioner makes your hair more manageable, that is my review on Proclaim Tea Tree spray leave-in conditioner (can be bought at Sally's). This hair spray is great for all natural hair styles.
This hair spray can also be used under hair weave tracks (only if the weave is sowed in with thread, and not glued in). Just lift each hair weave track and spray the Proclaim Tea Tree leave-in conditioner each weave track. You can spray your weave track braids once a week. Also this hair spray will keep your hair hydrated and moisturized.
Natural Protective Styles
Note, that you can wear your hair in hair twist style for about 3 months, and then wear it in a weave for 3 months. Wearing certain different styles can protect your hair. African Americans can wear various natural hairstyles, without putting chemical hair perms in the hair.
Enjoy and embrace your natural hair; teach yourself and others to appreciate a more natural you.

Natural is best, but without making it easy to care for natural styles, some women get frustrated.
